| Measuring Harvest |
IMAGINE environmentally friendly and socially responsible coffee farming protecting songbird habitat.
EXPERIENCE NICARAGUA and get behind quality of life for farmers and quality environment for birds.
SHARE - a quality cup of Nicaraguan Bird Friendly java!
Visit coffee farms and mills learning about the Bird Friendly coffee processes from seedling to export by walking through the plantations, picking coffee, and participating in coffee cuppings. Gaia Estate provides a premier Smithsonian Bird Friendly® Certified farm experience. The shade-coffee zones and adjacent forest at Gaia Estate support many colorful tropical birds, including Turquoise-browed Motmot, Hoffmann's Woodpecker, Collared Aracari (a small toucan), and the flashy, long-tailed White-throated Magpie-Jay. During the winter, this area also hosts a wide variety of migratory birds from North America, including Baltimore Oriole, Yellow-throated Vireo, Western Tanager, Summer Tanager, Wood Thrush, and Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Enjoy birding in three ecosystems of Nicaragua; tropical dry forest; cloud forest and tropical humid forest; a island forest fresh water ecosystem. As we observe these birds, we will learn how Bird Friendly certification for coffee helps to ensure the survival of these migrants.
Relax at hotels and restaurants small in size with family owned comfort sharing the commitment to a light ecological footprint.
Taste the best organic coffees in the world, enjoy migratory birds, the beautiful scenery and beaches...and most of all, meet the people who work on the farms, and enjoy their famous hospitality.
Come and Enjoy Nicaraqua's unique birding, culture and coffee history in the making!
