Nepal: Manaslu Trek
Photos | Itinerary (PDF) | Cambodia Extension
Nestled in the cradle of the highest mountains on earth, Nepal is a country of amazing extremes - colorful cultures, superb scenery and fascinating history! From the "forest of temples" in exotic Kathmandu to the famous mountain treks, we enjoy wonderful cultural as well as scenic immersion. Trekking is, without question, the best way to experience this spectacular landscape and to meet its people. Our thirty-day journey takes us into the heart of the spectacular Manaslu region and peak, the world's seventh highest mountain. We spend nearly a week in the Tsum Valley, a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley. Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal and Baudha Himal ranges are the backdrop for this serene Himalayan valley rich in ancient art, culture, and religion. The local people are mostly of Tibetan origin with a unique dialect. Trails are strewn with artistic chortens and lined with mani walls made of thousands of stone slabs carved with deities and prayers. The Tsum valley has a long history of Buddhism. Due to its remotemness and inaccessibility, ancient remains of the Tsum Kingdom valley and its people have been bypassed by mainstream development for centuries. As a result, the unique culture of this valley has remained intact. The genuine warmth of the Nepali people and the vast beauty of this untrampled area makes lasting impressions and a truly unique Adventure Associates journey!
