| Jungle River Safari |
The Tambopata National Reserve is a 275,000-hectare conservation region created by the Peruvian government to protect the watersheds of the Tambopata and Candamo rivers. Home to 1300 bird species, 32 parrot species (10% of the world's total), 200 mammal species, 1200 butterfly species and over 10,000 species of vascular plants, this rainforest environment is one of the most rugged and beautiful on earth. Less than 5,000 people inhabit the reserve's "area of influence" to the north. Here you can spot dusky-headed titi, squirrel, brown capuchin, howler and spider monkeys, as well as capybara, caiman, agouti, and endless birdlife! The largest known macaw parrot clay lick is inside the reserve. Our jungle lodges in this region are a small part of the network of organizations and communities that are attempting to protect this unparalleled wilderness by creating and sharing the value of leaving the forest standing. An unforgettable addition to any South American journey.
Dream On: We can also book a custom Peru trek and jungle extension for you, your friends or family. Email or call us for details!
