Women in Coffee: Costa Rica
Costa Rica's coffee producers run some of the most environmentally-friendly and socially-conscious farms, mills and beneficios. When dedicated housewives gathered to generate income for their families, the Women's Association of CoopeAgri was born in the heart of the coffee-growing regions: Brunca, Terrazu and Orosi. They developed a milling and toasting project, achieving an excellent and unique product, which you will experience from seed to cup! The Terrazu region is known as the region of Los Santos (The Saints), where each town is dedicated to a patron saint. Visit family and women-owned and run coffee estates on this tour through the volcanic and fertile West and Central valleys. Enjoy wharehouse and mill tours, coffee cuppings and a tour inside World Heritage Area, Amistad International Park. Relax at Tabacon Resort and Spa for a full day and night, and spend some time in the Oxcart Factory and souvenir shopping in Sarchi to round out your Costa Rican Coffee Adventure.
